The mayor of Argentona, Eudald Calvo (CUP) denounced a group of “Tabàrnia” supporters (pro-unionist supporters galvanized on social media, largely from large urban centres like Tarragona and Barcelona) via Twitter, for having burned a statue in the municipality. The sculpted human figure had been decorated in a yellow flower gown because this weekend the town is celebrating its “Flower Day”. The Mayor, a member of the Popular Unity Candidacy (CUP) said “we must stop fascism in its tracks”.

The yellow dress of the figure has been completely carbonized, as can be seen in the photographs posted by the Mayor.
This weekend [June 2nd and 3rd], Argentona celebrates the Corpus with Flower Days, a two-day event in which the streets of the town are carpeted with flowers and floral compositions.
