National television of Luxembourg and ‘France Soir’, surprised by participation of ultra-right wing party in case against Catalans

Both French and Luxembourgish media outlets have expressed surprise and confusion at the particularities of the Spanish legal system which have allowed a small extreme-right wing party, Vox, to join the complainant’s side in the case against Catalan politicians, despite not being either involved in the case, or a victim in it.

New York Times Editorial: The Catalonia Dispute Ensnares Germany

The Editorial Board of the New York Times, while not explicitly in favour of Catalan independence, asserts that accusing Puigdemont of “using force” is false, and condemns the cynical stretching of definitions of felonies such as “rebellion” and “treason”, currently being perpetrated by the Spanish government. They suggest a “conciliatory gesture towards Catalonia”.

Spanish abuse of the youths from Altsasu– 500 days in prison with no trial

The coordinated treatment by the National Court and Office of the Prosecutor, of several youths from Navarra accused of ‘terrorism’ and ‘hate crimes’ for a bar brawl which resulted in an off-duty Guardia Civil being injured, is similar to the coordinated judicial attacks against Catalan Political prisoners. They have now spent 500 days in prison, without any trial.

Three men detained for accompanying Puigdemont are released

Three men, including two off-duty Catalan Police officers and an eminent historian, were detained in Catalonia, after having been traveling with Carles Puigdemont on his fated journey from Finland to Brussels, via Germany. They have since been released, pending appearances in court.
