The Spanish Government has confirmed that a few minutes past one in the afternoon today, they received official confirmation from German authorities regarding the arrest of the former President of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, who was retained by German police upon entering the country in a car, from Denmark. Sources at the Moncloa Palace made it clear that his detention was the result of the re-institution of the European Arrest Warrant by Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena, and “will move forward using the standard European protocols for police and judicial cooperation”.
